The multi-modality fully digital imaging department consists of Radiology, Ultrasound, and Computed Tomography (CT) Services. The Radiology Dept. includes a digital portable x-ray machine as well as a dedicated radiography room. The filmless PACS System enables clinic and emergency physicians almost instant access to patient imaging files.
Our Computer Tomography (CT) room is a 16 slice spiral scanner which is a BrightSpeed Select that allows for short exam times and high quality images. Some of the patient benefits would be:
- Less time needed for breath holds, which can mean less stress for the patient
- Automated dose optimization features
- Easy wheelchair access to patient table
- Breathing lights help coach patients through
breath holds – making it an easier exam
Also included in the CT department is Bone Density evaluation. Some of the more typical procedures would be:
- Trauma/emergency room/chest pain management
- Stroke assessment
- Oncology/cancer planning
- Pulmonary emboli
- Inner ear ailments
- Spinal injuries
- Abdominal injuries
- Pediatric assessment
- Kidney exams
- Liver exams
- Lung exams
The Ultrasound Department includes general ultrasound exams as well as vascular exams. Our department is staffed by board certified Radiologic Technologists licensed with the State of Kentucky and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
BrightSpeed Select
The BrightSpeed Select raises the level of care that a hospital can provide for a multitude of injuries or illnesses. With the exceptional image quality, productivity, and reliability found in GE's CT products. New Horizons Medical Center has installed a GE BrightSpeed and is able to offer a higher quality care right here in Owenton. This system was installed March 4, 2008.
