New Horizons Medical Center Emergency Department offers 24 hour service 7 days a week to care for patients with all type of medical problems, from minor illnesses and injuries to life threatening emergencies with a personal touch for added comfort to meet the needs of all patients. Our emergency department is staffed with qualified physicians who utilize lab work, C.T. scanning, Ultrasound, and a newly equipped X-ray department for better diagnosing the patient. New Horizons Registered Nurses and Physicians have been certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Life Support so a life threatening illness or trauma can be stabilized for transfer to a larger facility for more definitive treatment if necessary.
Please bring a list of your current medications with you when you come to the Emergency Room.
Please do not eat or drink anything before the ER physician sees you, as this may delay test or procedures
We cannot give someone who calls on the telephone information about you. This is Federal law.
Your previous medical information is not stored in the Emergency Room. Although we can access your records, we must ask you about your current and past medical conditions and surgeries.
We are bound to protect your privacy and confidentiality as much as possible.
If you have a condition that requires urgent consultation with a specialist, we will arrange for your transfer to a higher level of care. Our physician must speak with a physician specialist who will accept you for care and the accepting hospital must have a bed available for you.
If you call the Emergency Room on the telephone for advice about your or a family members condition or symptoms, we cannot give you advice over the phone for legal liability reasons.
We are also prohibited by Policy from disclosing the name of the Emergency Room physician on duty.
The Emergency Room has four (4) beds. The Emergency Room physicians and nurses will allow a family member to accompany you whenever possible. A Parent will always accompany a minor child.
